Knee pain 😩

The issue with chronic injuries are that players think they are carrying the issue for life….

So they stop completely which only leads to more weakness and a longer road back.

If you are already in pain, usually it flares during certain movements.

If this is the case, then we can start the road to recovery through isometric holds.

ISOs are great for strengthening things up without moving through the pain barrier.

Your joint can’t hurt more if it’s not moving!!!!!

Once some strength returns, you can progress things a bit further.

If this is you, make sure the contraction is so heavy that it is almost unbearable (see me looking at my watch constantly as I want it to be over).

Important note - isometrics won’t cure your pain alone, but they are a great start onto the road of recovery!

Back to the grind,
On those cold January nights,
Last season left behind,
Wearing under armour and tights,

Pre season is rough,
And is always a test,
So you need to be tough,
And do more than your best,

Do all you can,
To add to your ability,
Get yourself a plan,
Strength, speed and mobility,

All of these factors,
Will keep you on the field,
They aren’t just distracters,
They act as shield,

By increasing your speed,
And having your hips like butter,
There will be no need,
For the physio to give you an utter,

It doesn’t have to be much,
It just needs to be right,
A small extra touch,
Because being injured is shite,

I always bewilder,
When players follow a plan,
That has them training like a bodybuilder,
You’re an athlete man (or woman)!!!

Additionally there are,
Some players who say,
“You can’t kick weights over the bar”
I would argue all day….

Think of the plus signs,
To being injury free,
Less time on the sidelines,
And playing with glee,

When championship arrives,
And you are absolutely flying,
All of this derives,
From extra work you have been driving,

So set out your stall,
For August and September,
For championship ball,
Make it one to remember.

Focus on movement quality first and foremost

Build strength and power through explosive movements.

Practice sprinting at max velocity at least 1-2 times per week. Add some COD stuff to complement this.
